Bangalore INDIA BIO 2012
The Twelfth edition of Bangalore INDIA BIO, India's Biggest Biotech Show organized by the Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Vision Group on Biotechnology and MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications with support from ABLE, concluded today on a high note. The success of the event was evident by the accolades received from the delegates, exhibitors, speakers and officials.
India The Emerging Bioeconomy was the focal theme of Bangalore INDIA BIO 2012 and consisted of Multi-Track Conference, International Trade Show, BioPartnering India, CEO Conclave, the annual Bio Excellence Awards, Bio Quiz, Poster sessions and vision talks from industry thought leaders.
The Multi-Track Conference developed by ABLE and MM Activ consisted of 20 Sessions with 106 Speakers addressing bio-similars, bio-medical technologies, companion diagnostics, Synthetic Biology, CROs, mobile technologies in health care, industrial biotechnology, enzymes and bio fuels. The gathering attended by delegates from more than 18 countries and 22 states.
Bangalore INDIA BIO 2012 witnessed a significant international participation. The United States of America was represented in strength with United States India Business Council (USIBC) led by Mr. Ron Somers, President, consisting of a 15 member delegation along with a Business delegation from Pennsylvania and Georgia. Germany and UK Trade and Investment Board participated in a very big way 22 member delegation from Iran also participated in the Event.
The BioPartnering India initiative received phenomenal response with more than over 500 business meetings facilitating bio-collaborations.
The Exhibition consisting of about 80 participating organisations attracted over 4000 business visitors consisting of conference delegates representing every segment of life sciences sector, BioTech industry representatives, research organisations and academia during the 3-day Bangalore INDIA BIO. The Best Exhibitor Awards under various categories were bagged by GE Health care, Biocon, Zeba Lab Furniture, Eppendorf India, Waters India Pvt. Ltd. The winners under Biotech finishing schools were Padmashree Institute of Management & Sciences and The Oxford College of Science.
All important National Bio-Excellence Awards were presented – In the Biopharma & Health care category, the award winner was Serum Institute of India and the Emerging Company of the year was Embrace. In the Agri-Biotechnology category the winner was Mahyco. In the Bioservices category the Award winner was Quintiles and the Emerging Company of the year was Semler Research Centre. Bio-Excellence Award winner in Bio-Industrial category was PRAJ Industries Ltd and Emerging Company of the year was Sea6 Energ. In the Bioinformatics & Systems Biology categories, Award winner was Ocimum Biosolutions and Emerging Company of the year was Ganit Labs & Xcelris Labs.
The poster presentations, where-in, young minds showcased their innovative ideas received over 76 entries with 65 posters being selected. The best poster awards were bagged by S. S. Nandi from Enterovirus Research Centre, ICMR, Mumbai the second and third places were bagged by Vijay Gunasekaran and Pratima Sinha respectively.
